Per questa ragione non mi sono stu- pita quando Rupert Everett mi ha detto che rea- lizzare un film su Oscar Wilde era da sempre il suo sogno. In questo caso, addirittura, i desideri realizzati sono tre perché quello che è considera- to a pieno titolo uno dei più brillanti attori della sua generazione è anche il regista e lo sceneg- giatore del lungometraggio. “The happy prin- ce - L’ultimo ritratto di Oscar Wilde” è un film intenso e ricco di suggestioni nel quale Rupert Everett racconta in maniera appassionante gli ultimi tre anni di vita del poeta britannico che per ventiquattro mesi venne imprigionato nel carcere londinese di Reading Gaol con l’accusa di sodomia e che dopo la liberazione fu costret- to a trasferirsi a Parigi.
